I stayed at Jalan Penang (Penang Road) which is one of the best location in town. On my last trip, I chose to stay at a simple yet a little bit old named Grand Inn Penang Road Hotel. From this hotel, it was very easy for me to mobilize. There is a bus stop across the street which will take me to go around the city or just walked to some famous old town icons.

At a glance, Nasi Kandar looks like Nasi Padang in Indonesia. When you ordered Nasi Kandar, you will get some plain steamed rice ( certain restaurants also served mildly flavoured rice) which is served with many side dishes. The side dishes are kind of curry of lamb, chicken or seafood, egg, vegetables (mostly okra and cabbage) and many others.

Like the most of curry, the dishes are cooked in thick coconut milk. If you are vegetarian, you are still be able to enjoy Nasi Kandar as some vegetarian dishes are also available. According to history, Nasi Kandar was the food for the labors so no wonder if the portion of this dish is quite big to refuel the energy.

The stall of delicious Nasi Kandar Line Clear at Penang Road Georgetown Penang is not really on the main Road. You will see some sign LINE CLEAR PARKING AREA in some parking lot but you might not see the restaurant. Please follow the direction you see on the picture.

The restaurant is located in one of the alleyway at the Penang Road.  It is just behind the clothing stands. Go inside the alley and you will find the delicious Nasi Kandar Line Clear at Penang Road Georgetown Penang which is established in Penang since 1930.

Once you entered the area, you can directly order your food by choosing the side dish you wanted. I chose sotong which is squid and tamarind fried chicken. On top the rice on my plate, they added with green chili sauce and stir-fry cabbage. It was delicious and made my belly very full.

Do not forget to pay what you ate before you leave the property. Oh ya, the price of the side-dishes is starting from RM 1 to RM 150 – while the drinks is RM 1 – RM 3.5 (May 2018) The most expensive is the curry of fish head but this must be the very big one.  Anyway, it was a good choice to end my day though.
