Delicious Lunch at Monthathip 2 Restaurant Hat Yai Songkhla Thailand – Several months ago, I had opportunity to go to Hat Yai, Southern Thailand. I took shuttle service from KOMTAR Penang. It was 3.5 hours drive from Penang to Hat Yai.
Hat Yai is a city in Songkhla province. It is located in Southern part of Thailand, close to the Malaysian border in Penang. It is a small city yet nice. Easy to go to every corner of this city. Go around on foot or rent a tuk-tuk or get taxi service are the way we could enjoy the city center.
Me and my friends decided to rent a tuk-tuk to go round Songkhla. Uncle Pi Bun, the English speaking tuk-tuk driver has confirmed to take us around. It was a good decision so we can manage our time in visiting several tourism attractions in Songkhla.
We started the trip at 7:00 AM. We agreed to have breakfast at a simple food stall. This was a place where local have their breakfast. While for lunch, we will have a good Thai food by the Samila Beach.
It was not complete if we did not taste the local Thai food while we were in Thailand. Three of us love Thailand food as it is rich with flavor. I believe all of us knows Tom Yam Kung or Manggo with sticky rice and coconut sauce. It is a pity while we were in Thailand and did not taste them.
After spent sometimes at Songkhla Lake where dragod head statue stands beautifully, we went to Samila Beach. As promised, we will stop by for having lunch before go to the beach. Uncle Pi Bun stopped his tuk-tuk at a big parking lot where some restaurants were ready to serve the guests.
Actually we can choose one of the restaurants in that area. However, got suggestion from local will be the best one. Uncle Pi Bun suggested us to have the lunch at Monthathip Seafood 2. He said the food is really good yet the price is reasonable.
So, we did not wait for too long. We want to enjoy the delicious lunch at Monthathip 2 Restaurant Hat Yai Songkhla Thailand. We chose the fish on the display and put our order. The most important is all fish were fresh.
Firstly, we put tom yam kung on our order. Cannot miss this dish! The next order was shrimp and fish. In addition to our dished, we also ordered sauted vegetable. The vegetable was melinjo leaves which we can find easily in Indonesia, my country. Unfortunately, it is rare to cook it in Indonesia.
What is melinjo? According to Wikipedia, melinjo or Gnetum gnemon is species of Gnetum native to Southeast Asia and Western Pacific Ocean Island. We can find melinjo in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Fiji. It is known as gnemon, melinjo, belinjo, kuliat, bago, bigo or paddy oats.
No need to wait for too long. Our order came one by one. We really enjoyed this dining experience. The food was outstanding, all was delicious. Moreover, the service was very good and the prices were reasonable compare to the quality and taste.
Delicious Lunch at Monthathip 2 Restaurant Hat Yai Songkhla Thailand was a memorable one.
