Enjoy the Beauty of Kek Lok Si Temple Penang Malaysia – Penang state is my favorite state in Malaysia. Other than good food, I also enjoy a lot of nice tourism spots. For those who loves beach, you can go to Teluk Bahang area. If you love to do trekking, the Penang National Forest is waiting for you to explore. You might be an architecture lovers like me, this state is like a heaven as a lot of old yet nice buildings to see.

One of the interesting place to visit in Penang is Air Itam area. What will we see here? You could enjoy the famous Laksa Asam, one of the must eat dishes in Penang. An enjoyable visit to  Bukit Bendera (Penang Hill) is a must. The other place you should not miss is Kek Lok Si Temple.

Several months ago, I had opportunity to visit Penang. It was my third times coming to this city. I am still not get bored with Penang. I went to Penang with two friends this time. However it was their first time to Penang so visit Kek Lok Si Temple is a must.

After tasted the delicious Laksa Asam at Air Itam Market, we walked to the temple. It was not too far but Penang was very hot. So we walked as fast as we could. We can see the temple from afar. This building is really eye catching. The statue of Goddess of Mercy which located at the hill top was really interesting.

We just followed the direction until we reached the gate of Kek Lok Si Temple. It is a sacred place for devotion but open for public. Therefore, it is necessary for the tourists to put respect to all rules and direction applied at this property.

The Kek Lok Si temple means temple of the supreme bliss. It is the biggest Buddhist temple in Malaysia. No wonder that many Buddhist from Asian countries come and pray at Kek Lok Si Temple.  To my eyes, it is the most beautiful Buddhist temple in Penang and Kuala Lumpur.

There are 2 (two) main buildings you have to visit to really enjoy the beauty of Kek Lok Si Temple Penang Malaysia. There are the seven storey main pagoda which is known as Ban Po Thar and the 30.2 meter bronze statue of Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy. All of them are located at different zone of the complex.

Inside the pagoda, you can find a big statue of Buddha. This statue was donated by the King of Thailand, King Bhumibol. To reach the top of this building, you should take the steps of the turnstile. Once at the highest floor, you will see the beautiful scenery. 

When you want to see the Guanyin statue, you should take inclining lift. Why? Because this statue stands beautifully at the hillside above the pagoda. Just follow the direction to get to the ticket counter. One way ticket of this lift is RM 3 while return ticket will cost you RM 6. Some people will finish at this area and call taxi to take them back to city.

The other way to go to the Guanyin temple is by foot. You should take every steps next to the inclining lift. Luckily, I never saw people took this steps even I have visited Kek Lok Si Temple for 4 times. I believe it is hundreds steps to take.

This inclining lift is ready to take you up every day at 0830 – 1730 while the temple itself opens daily at 0700 – 2100. Besides the Guanyin statue, at this floor you will see the beauty garden and fish pond. It is a nice place to take pictures for sure.

If you stayed at Georgetown, you should take Rapid Penang Bus number 204. This bus will end at Penang Hill (Bukit Bendera). If you wanted to go to Kek Lok Si Temple, you stop at Pasar Aer Itam bus stop. Then you should walk up the hill to the Kek Lok Si Temple. This bus will cost you RM 2.4 ( 2018).

I believe you will not get disappointed to come and enjoy this large and beautiful Kek Lok Si Temple, Penang, Malaysia. Come and prove it yourself!
